Ethel Claudine Stapleton

Ethel Claudine Brannan Stapleton of Livingston, Texas passed away on April 29, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper. Reverend Jerry Chandler, retired pastor of Burke Baptist Church, will be officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 1st from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home. Burial will follow the funeral at Ebenezer Cemetery.

Claudine was born in Beaumont, Texas on September 25, 1931 to James Claude Brannan and Ethel Izora DeLong Brannan. She was the third of three incredibly gifted sisters, each with unique artistic talents. She graduated from South Park High School and later attended Lamar College.

Claudine was married to Monroe Stapleton on February 18, 1954. They were married 46 years, until Monroe’s passing in 2000. After marrying, Claudine and Monroe lived on Threadneedle Street in South Park for several years. They then moved to Bevil Oaks, where they lived until 1968. They moved to Jasper and lived there until Claudine relocated to Livingston to be closer to family in 2012.

Claudine worked several years for Mobiloil, until becoming a full-time wife, and mother to her four children. She adored her five grandchildren, who were the joys of her life. She was a gifted pianist in her early years, and would regularly entertain the residents of her South Park neighborhood as they sat on their front porches while she practiced piano. Beautiful music always brought a smile to her lovely face.

Claudine is survived by son, Greg, his wife Mary and their daughters Emilie and Maggie, all of Silsbee; son Keith, his wife Peggy, of Livingston, and their children, Megan, of Houston, and Justin and his wife Amanda of Huntsville; daughter Sarai of Austin; son Daniel, his wife Melissa, and their son Gavin of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She is also survived by her sister Dorris Hatton of Warren, along with other beloved nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Claudine is preceded in death by her husband Monroe, her sister Lois Faye Brannan Gober, and her parents.
